Trump says 'Fox News is not our friend,' claims it's airing 'Democrat ads'
Former President Trump on Sunday took aim at Fox News for airing what the GOP presidential nominee sees as too much coverage devoted to the Democrats, just a few days before the election.
“FoxNews keeps putting on Democrat ads, as part of their news program. Their soundbites are almost all of Harris and her Democrat friends, all of whom are on the shows,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Sunday morning.
“FOX NEWS IS NOT OUR FRIEND. It’s crazy!” Trump continued.
The GOP presidential nominee has for months railed against Fox, the top-rated cable news channel, over its coverage of him and programming, though he is seen on the outlet regularly for interviews, town halls and other appearances. Just this weekend, he called into "Fox & Friends Weekend" to discuss media coverage of former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) in an interview.
A few weeks ago, Trump criticized Fox News for airing negative political ads attacking him and said he would appeal directly to media mogul Rupert Murdoch to get them removed from the air during an interview on the network.
“In the old days, you never played negative ads. In other words, when I leave here, I’ll then be hit by five or six ads,” Trump said two weeks ago during an in-studio interview on “Fox & Friends,” the network’s flagship morning show.
“You mean Fox News?” host Brian Kilmeade interjected.
“When I leave, I’ll have 12 people from Kamala on, and pretty much unopposed,” Trump said. “For 19 days, I don’t think we should do that anymore. I think you shouldn’t play negative ads. It’s very tough.”
“You do a show — and I complain all the time. I love complaining,” he added. “I like to have everything perfect. But when I leave here … it’s sort of a net neutral.”
The Hill has reached out to Fox News for comment.
Trump’s latest remarks come just days before Election Day, as the race between him and Vice President Harris remains neck and neck. In the latest national polling average from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, Trump leads Harris by 0.2 percentage points, with 48.3 percent support to Harris’s 48.1 percent.
