President Trump is giving his blessing to the relationship between Tiger Woods and Vanessa Trump, saying he's "very happy" for the couple.
"I love Tiger and I love Vanessa," Trump said in the Oval Office on Monday in response to a question from a reporter about his thoughts on Woods "becoming a part of the broader Trump family."
"Tiger actually called me a few months ago," Trump said of the 49-year-old famed golfer.
"He’s a fantastic guy and a fantastic athlete. And he told me about it," Trump said.
Woods confirmed he was in a relationship with Vanessa Trump, the president's former daughter-in-law, in an Instagram post last month.
"Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side! We look forward to our journey through life together," Woods captioned a photo of himself with Vanessa Trump, who was married for more than a decade to Donald Trump, Jr.
The president's son and Vanessa Trump, a former model, split in 2018.
"I happen to think the relationship was hurt very badly by the witch hunt that went on -- Russia, Russia, Russia -- all the crap that they put Don through, who knew nothing about it," the commander in chief said on Monday of his eldest son.
"But Vanessa and Don had a very good relationship," Trump added.
Trump also described his reaction after Woods called him to tell him about the love connection.
"I said, 'Tiger, that's good," Trump recalled.
"I’m very happy for both," he continued.
"Let them both be happy. They’re both great," Trump said.
