National Border Patrol Council endorses Trump at Arizona rally
The National Border Patrol Council on Sunday endorsed former President Trump at a rally in Arizona.
“America, I have a message for you. If we allow border czar Harris to win this election, every city, every community in this great country is going to go to hell,” said Border Patrol agent Paul Perez, who heads the union’s Local 3307, repeating the false claim that Vice President Harris is tasked with coordinating border security.
The largest Border Patrol union has for years supported Trump’s hard-line border security and immigration proposals, only indirectly breaking with Trump by supporting the failed bipartisan Senate border deal that Trump opposed.
The Border Patrol Council on Monday reiterated its endorsement of Trump, posting on the social platform X, “We strongly support and endorse Donald J. Trump for President of the United States.”
Immigration and the border have been a central issue in the presidential race.
It's an issue where polls have shown Trump has an advantage over Harris, the Democratic nominee, though she has been taking steps to try to narrow the gap.
During a visit to the border in late September, Harris said she would sign a new version of the bipartisan Senate border deal that was torpedoed by Trump and other Republicans earlier this year.
“It was the strongest border security bill we have seen in decades,” Harris said during the visit to Cochise College.
“It was endorsed by the Border Patrol union, and it should be in effect today, producing results in real time right now for our country. But Donald Trump tanked it," she said.
The border is also a key issue in Arizona, one of the seven swing states likely to decide the election. The Hill/Decision Desk HQ average of polls shows Trump with a narrow lead over Harris in the state.
