Live updates: Trump arrives at White House to meet Bidens ahead of inauguration
President-elect Trump will become the nation's 47th president on Monday, only the second man in the nation's history to return to the Oval Office after a hiatus.
His inauguration is already ushering in a flurry of actions, including the intention to sign 10 executive orders on immigration, that will in part unwind rules and standards set in the intervening President Biden era. He is planning to sign a handful of executive orders right after Monday's ceremony.
Trump arrived at church services in Lafayette Square alongside his family on Monday shortly before 9 a.m. local time. He arrived at the White House around 10 a.m. to meet the Biden's for tea before they all set off for the Capitol.
Inauguration events kicked off on Saturday, when the former and future president returned to Washington. He, along with Vice President-elect JD Vance, have been feted in receptions and a victory rally.
They will be sworn into office by noon Monday, forced into a Capitol Rotunda ceremony by bitterly cold weather.
