Hillary Clinton: Trump rhetoric now ‘blatantly fascist’
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called former President Trump’s rhetoric “blatantly fascist” Monday morning, as the former president continues to target migrant populations across the country.
“Let’s be absolutely clear so that no one is confused. Trump’s rhetoric has become blatantly fascist,” Clinton posted on the social platform X.
Clinton included a screenshot of a Politico article that highlighted Trump’s recent remarks from a rally in Aurora, Colo.
The former president amplified reports about a Venezuelan gang taking over an apartment complex in the city. State and local leaders have pushed back on his comments and argued it was an isolated incident and Trump’s comments have hurt the community.
Trump visited the Colorado city last week, calling it a “war zone” and vowing to have Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement “hunt down, arrest and deport every last illegal alien gang member.”
His dark rhetoric is not only impacting Aurora. Springfield, Ohio, was also thrust into the spotlight after Trump amplified unfounded claims about Haitian migrants eating people’s pets. The city had to close schools and received dozens of bomb threats after his comments.
Clinton, who challenged Trump in the 2016 presidential election, has long warned that the former president has a dangerous agenda.
She warned last month that an October surprise may “distort and pervert” the vice president.
“All the warning lights for our democracy are flashing red,” Clinton’s Monday post on X said. “We must take him seriously and defeat him soundly at the ballot box.”
The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign for comment.
