Harris leads Trump by 3 points in new national survey
Vice President Harris leads former President Trump by 3 points in a new national poll of likely voters conducted by ABC News and Ipsos.
The poll, conducted Oct. 29-Nov. 1, shows likely voters backing Harris over Trump 49 percent to 46 percent in the final poll before Election Day on Tuesday.
The results are similar from weeks prior. Last week, Harris led Trump by 4 points, 51 percent to 47 percent, and two weeks before that, Harris led Trump by 2 points, 50 percent to 48 percent. The results have been roughly the same since Harris replaced President Biden as the Democrats’ presumptive nominee this past summer.
The recent poll, released Sunday, shows Harris winning 7 percent of GOP support and Trump winning 3 percent of Democratic support. Harris has support from 11 percent of conservatives, while Trump has support from 4 percent of liberals.
Independent voters back Harris over Trump by 5 points, 49 percent to 44 percent. Among independent women, Harris leads Trump 55 percent to 37 percent, and among independent men, Trump leads by a smaller margin, 49 percent to 45 percent.
The gender gap among all likely voters is 16 points — with Harris leading among women by 11 points, 53 percent to 42 percent, and Trump leading among men by 5 points, 50 percent to 45 percent.
The national polling average from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ shows the race neck and neck between the two major candidates. Trump leads Harris by an average of 0.2 points, 48.3 percent to 48.1 percent.
The poll includes 2,267 likely voters and a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
