Fox's Doocy credits Biden press team for 'continuing to call on us'
Fox News reporter Peter Doocy praised former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and the rest of the Biden White House press team for continuing to call on him for questions during press briefings despite tension while he covered President Biden's administration.
"I would say that in the briefing room, a lot of the tension is very real when you are confronting somebody about something that is uncomfortable for them or that they are going to have a very hard time explaining," Doocy said during an interview with Mediaite. "But to their great credit, the Biden people continued to call on us."
Doocy became known during Biden's years in office for his frequent and often sharp questions directed at Jean-Pierre and other White House officials.
The Fox reporter famously got under Biden's skin early in his administration with a question about inflation, sparking Biden to call him a "stupid son of a b----," on a hit microphone before later calling Doocy to apologize.
Biden's White House consistently took criticism from the press about how often the president would speak with reporters. Jean-Pierre often sparred with Doocy and other members of the press as questions grew about the president's age and stamina, among other issues.
"But they continued to engage and they would have people from their staff come down a couple of hours before the briefing and ask generally what we were interested in and we would engage with them because, I’m not in there trying to make anybody look bad," Doocy said. "We had a professional relationship, I don't think there was ever any animosity, there definitely wasn't from me."
