MSNBC's Alex Wagner to launch 'Trumpland' podcast
MSNBC host and political reporter Alex Wagner will launch a podcast focusing on President Trump's policies and the impact they are having on American voters as she steps away from the anchoring desk during his first 100 days.
The limited weekly series, dubbed "Trumpland," will contain anecdotes and reporting from across the country as part of a special assignment the network announced for Wagner earlier this month.
MSNBC revealed plans to bring pundit Rachel Maddow back to a five-day-a-week hosting schedule during Trump's first 100 days, saying at the time Wagner would head into the field to cover “the biggest stories as they develop in real-time during Trump’s first 100 days in office, reporting on the impact of his early promises and policies on the electorate."
Wagner was hired by MSNBC in 2022 to host a nightly show at 9 p.m. as Maddow announced plans to step away from her daily program to focus on other projects.
New episodes of Wagner's "Trumpland" podcast will publish on Thursdays until April, at which point she is expected to retake full-time hosting duties from Maddow.
Wagner's foray into podcasting is part of a broader push in recent months by the network into audio, streaming and other non-linear platforms in the face of widespread cord cutting and changing news consumer habits.
