Education Dept. slashes workforce; new tariffs roil US markets
President Donald Trump is planning to cut nearly 1,300 Department of Education employees, about half of its total staff, with an ultimate goal of shutting down the agency completely. It comes as more tariffs on more countries kick in, including allies in Europe. The EU responded with tariffs of its own on American exports. NBC’s Garrett Haake reports for TODAY.
