The Sims Movie From Margot Robbie's Production Company Confirmed, Will Include Freezer Bunnies
Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed the development of a film based on The Sims franchise, produced by Margot Robbie's company LuckyChap. The project is directed by Kate Herron (Loki), with a script co-written by Herron and Briony Redman (Doctor Who). The news comes following months of speculation about the adaptation, as announced by EA.
"The Sims will be coming to the big screen," EA Entertainment president Laura Miele said in a statement to Variety on Tuesday. She emphasized that the film aims to build on the game's 25-year legacy and expand the franchise's reach. "It's a testament to the enduring power of this beloved franchise."
Kate Gorman, vice president of The Sims franchise at EA, noted that the film will focus on delivering an authentic Sims experience. "We wanted the right partners and to make an impact the size of something like a Barbie movie," Gorman told Variety.
