FragPunk
- Developer: Bad Guitar Studio
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5
- Release Date: March 6
There has been no shortage of hero shooters in recent years, but FragPunk seems eager to add new ideas into the mix. Developer Bad Guitar Studio introduces its upcoming shooter as a fast-paced, tactics-based game in the vein of Valorant, with specific characters having a set of abilities to use alongside sheer accuracy and firepower. The twist? You get to pick cards at the beginning of a round that can alter matches in an array of ways. From flipping maps upside down so you can walk on ceilings to reviving dead teammates as zombies for a horrifying second wind, FragPunk is leaning on a philosophy of freedom to bend its rules.
Atomfall
- Developer: Rebellion
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4
- Release Date: March 27
From the creators of the Sniper Elite series comes Atomfall, a survival-action game set five years after the Windscale nuclear disaster in Northern England. In order to find out the truth behind the events that transpired, you'll have to scavenge, craft, barter, and of course, shoot your way through mechs and other hostile beings trying to stop you. Developer Rebellion is setting the game as a fictional reimaging of the real-world event, drawing from science-fiction, folk-horror, and Cold War influences to create a new story and a captivating landscape to explore.
Killing Floor 3
- Developer: Tripwire Interactive
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5
- Release Date: March
It seems zombie games still have tricks up their sleeves. Developer Tripwire Interactive is working on a new entry in the Killing Floor series, which started as an Unreal Tournament 2004 mod in 2005. Now, it's been almost 11 years since the release of Killing Floor 2, and the core concept continues to be iterated on. Squads of up to six players band together to fight against increasingly tough hordes of zombies, visiting a trader in between rounds to replenish ammo and gear up with more powerful weaponry. Killing Floor 3 is tweaking the formula by increasing enemy mobility--you'll now encounter zombies flying and crawling on walls and ceilings--as well as tying characters with classes, making the presentation feel more akin to a hero shooter.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered
- Developer: Naughty Dog
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: April 3

Developer Naughty Dog promises an array of graphical improvements, as well as full integration with the PlayStation DualSense controller. Elsewhere, the Remastered edition also brings the additions seen on the PS5 release, including developer commentary, the Lost Levels feature to explore scenarios that didn't make it into the final game, and No Return, a roguelike survival mode where you can pick from different unlockable characters.
Project: Mist
- Developer: Chicken Launcher
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: May 12
A new open-world survival-horror game draws near. In Project: Mist, you'll use a wide range of weapons to fight against colossal enemies, from underwater creatures to eerie cryptids. Set on a hostile island, you're free to roam its depths as you see fit, without a forced quest or pointers guiding your way. You'll have to farm, cook, and craft items, as well as tend to your base. There's also a gravity gun, in case you've been feeling nostalgic about Half-Life.
Doom: The Dark Ages
- Developer: id Software
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5
- Release Date: May 14
You know a year will be good for shooters when there's a new Doom entry on the horizon. Doom: The Dark Ages serves as a prequel to the events of Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal, pitting the Doom Slayer against the forces of hell from a medieval perspective. Making use of new gadgets, from a versatile shield that can parry attacks and deal devastating melee hits to a massive mech, the latest from developer id Software presents an ambitious premise. If you weren't a fan of the platforming and rhythm of Doom Eternal, id Software promises a return to the feel of classic Doom games--albeit in a modern wrapping.
Revenge of the Savage Planet
- Developer: Raccoon Logic Studios Inc.
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4
- Release Date: May 2025
Here's a vibrant action-adventure sci-fi game with plenty of shooting to do, either on your own or with a friend via co-op, and either online or locally. Revenge of the Savage Planet tasks you with doing tons of traversal maneuvers on alien worlds, exploring four different planets in search of secrets, alien flora and fauna to scan and document, and hazards to contend with. If you're searching for a game that doesn't take itself too seriously and leans into its universe to deliver something fresh, this is one to keep an eye on.
Kingmakers
- Developer: Redemption Road
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: Q1 2025
An absurd concept taken to its extreme, Kingmakers presents a group of soldiers from the future traveling back in time to the medieval era to change the course of history. This means that, all of a sudden, knights and archers are matched against fire weapons, helicopters, air strikes, and more. This doesn't mean it will be easy, however, as Kingmakers is set to feature hundreds of NPCs simultaneously, making battles feel like big-scale medieval confrontations. Up to three people can join forces together, each leading an army of their own as they command troops into battle to turn the tide--in case the helicopters aren't enough.
Dying Light: The Beast
- Developer: Techland
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5
- Release Date: Summer 2025
Originally planned as DLC, Dying Light: The Beast has mutated to become a standalone adventure in the Dying Light universe. Playing as Kyle Crane, you'll explore a rural region as you escape free after years of experiments done to your body. As you plunge through small villages and industrial complexes using your parkour skills, you'll get to use your zombie DNA to even the odds against an array of dangers. Dying Light: The Beast features four-player co-op in case you want to team up with others, and hey, if you bought the ultimate edition of Dying Light 2 Stay Human, you'll get the game for free.
Mafia: The Old Country
- Developer: Hangar 13
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5
- Release Date: Summer 2025
We're taking a trip down memory line with Mafia: The Old Country. In this prequel to the first game in the series, you'll be in the boots of Enzo Favara, proving your worth to the Cosa Nostra in a mob story set in 1900s Sicily. While the overall gameplay will feel familiar to existing Mafia fans, developer Hangar 13 is emphasizing the time period for everything you come across, from the weapons you'll use to the vehicles that will take you back and forth across the countryside. If you're looking for an extra layer of authenticity, the game will have fully localized voice acting in Sicilian to match the setting.
Arc Raiders
- Developer: Embark Studios
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5
- Release Date: 2025
Extraction shooters keep on swinging, and Arc Raiders is iterating on the genre with an eye-catching multiplayer world to explore. A series of mysterious machines are threatening any possible settlement on the surface, with communities forced to live underground. Raiders, on the other hand, are tasked with scavenging, building relationships with traders by completing quests, and returning from the surface with loot to create gear and upgrade their den. But there will also be other raiders carrying out the same search.
FBC: Firebreak
- Developer: Remedy Entertainment
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5
- Release Date: 2025
The creators of Alan Wake and Control are taking a spin on the Left 4 Dead-like subgenre with FBC: Firebreak. In this first-person shooter, three players band together to tackle missions and fight against the paranatural forces hiding inside the Oldest House--the location where Control takes place. There'll be different loadouts to pick from and customize before deploying to missions, including tools, support items, grenades, and of course, paranatural augments for your own use. If you're looking for a game to mitigate the arduous wait for Control 2, FBC: Firebreak should be enough of a nostalgia trip back to its universe.
Splitgate 2
- Developer: 1047 Games
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4
- Release Date: 2025
If you're missing Portal (who isn't, really?) then Splitgate 2 may scratch the itch. In a new free-to-play game, you'll get to tinker with portals once more, using your skills in objective-based game modes across a series of new maps and weapons. The portal gun is back for the sequel, allowing you to create shortcuts around the map and toy with gravity for aerial kills. A standout addition is a mode category called Multi-Team-Mayhem, where 24 players compete against each other in a massive new map.
Gears of War: E-Day
- Developer: The Coalition and People Can Fly
- Platforms: PC and Xbox Series X|S
- Release Date: 2025
The Coalition is joining forces with People Can Fly, the studio that worked on 2013's spin-off Gears of War: Judgment, for the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day. This prequel is set 14 years prior to the events of the first game, following original protagonists Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago for a trip down memory lane. There isn't much information about the game for now, but in case you were wondering, E-Day is bringing back the original voice actors for the aforementioned characters.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
- Developer: Retro Studios
- Platforms: Nintendo Switch
- Release Date: 2025
2025 might be the year for Samus Aran's long-awaited return. As announced by Nintendo last year, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is set to release this year. Details are quite light at the moment beyond the launch window, although it's likely we'll get to hear more about it during the coming months as the year starts properly. While it's safe to assume the game will be available for the upcoming Switch 2, Nintendo has yet to confirm it. For now, the first Switch will suffice.
The Outer Worlds 2
- Developer: Obsidian Entertainment
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5
- Release Date: 2025
Obsidian is returning to The Outer Worlds universe with a sequel. The Outer Worlds 2 will feature new settings to explore, a plethora of weapons to tinker with, and improvements in the overall presentation. So far, trailers have showcased a few new mechanics, such as a seemingly improved stealth system and amplified physics, illustrated by the player throwing a grenade and shooting it with a pistol in mid-air to cause a manual explosion. While Obsidian as a whole is likely placing its focus on Avowed, it shouldn't be long until we learn more about what events are transpiring in outer space.
Borderlands 4
- Developer: Gearbox
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5
- Release Date: 2025
Borderlands is gearing up for a return to its mainline series after the releases of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands and New Tales from the Borderlands in 2022. Featuring a new group of four vault hunters, you'll have to break free from a hostile hidden planet using all sorts of weapons at your disposal. Borderlands 4 will feature a grappling-hook mechanic to swing through its seamless world, as well as flying vehicles. At its core, however, it's more Borderlands--looting, completing absurd quests, and chatting about your day over Discord with friends while playing co-op are still part of the experience.
Exoborne
- Developer: Sharkmob AB
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4
- Release Date: TBD
Exoborne introduces itself as a tactical extraction shooter set in an open-world structure. You and your squad will face a hostile environment packed with factions, enemy players, and harsh weather conditions. The latter is dictated by a dynamic weather-condition system--as you scavenge resources, you might be surprised by tornadoes, storms, lightning strikes, and more. Luckily, alongside an array of weaponry to use, Exoborne features an exo-rig suit with a customizable loadout, in which you can mix and match abilities using mods to create synergies with the weather conditions, using them to your advantage.
Judas
- Developer: Ghost Story Games
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5
- Release Date: TBD
Developer Ghost Story Games, led by Ken Levine of System Shock 2, BioShock, and BioShock Infinite fame, has been working on Judas for a few years now. While the resemblance to BioShock is clear in both the world's aesthetics and the protagonist's abilities, Levine confirmed that the game will draw elements from the procedurally generated roguelite genre. You'll also get to grow your relationship with three main NPCs via a dynamic narrative system. Back in 2023, the studio announced that Judas would be released by March 2025, but the creators have yet to issue an update about this specific time window.
Marathon
- Developer: Bungie
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5
- Release Date: TBD
After the original trilogy released in the '90s, developer Bungie is bringing the first-person shooter Marathon back to life, this time as an extraction shooter. As a runner, you'll navigate a lost colony on Tau Ceti IV, where 30,000 people have disappeared without a trace. Mysterious artifacts, a long-dormant AI, and treasure troves await in this reimagining of the franchise. There isn't much information about the game for now, aside from the fact that Bungie will host playtests in 2025.
Battlefield 6
An image from Battlefield 3.
- Developer: DICE
- Platforms: TBC
- Release Date: TBD
Developer DICE has been working on the "reimagination" of the Battlefield series for a few years now, and 2025 might be year we see the results. After a mixed reception around Battlefield 2042, Battlefield 6--or whatever the game is ultimately called-- is shaking things up. The shooter will be set in the modern day, it won't feature 128-player matches or Specialist characters, and there could be a battle-royale element present as well. A report said that Battlefield 6 could launch as soon as October 2025. While there's no confirmation on platforms, it's likely that the upcoming shooter will be available on PC and current-gen consoles. You can learn more details in our in-depth Battlefield 6 explainer.
Sorry, there's no store listing as of yet.
