Nintendo recently announced the scheduled release date for the live-action Legend of Zelda movie, but it might not be the only one in production. Rumors suggest that the film is actually the first of a planned trilogy.
VGC is reporting that industry insider Daniel Richtman claimed that The Legend of Zelda would be the first of a potential trilogy. Richtman also mentioned in the same paid subscription Patreon post that the potential trilogy would have a six-year plan, in which all significant acting roles would be signed on for the entire run.
The first film is scheduled to shoot in New Zealand, according to Production List, a tracking service run by the Film and Television Industry Alliance. Right now, the Legend of Zelda movie is set to film from November 2025 to April 2026. With a March 2027 release, pre-production could already be underway.
