The Biggest Game Releases Of February 2025
After a relaxed start to the year, it feels like the 2025 gaming year is truly kicking off in February thanks to several high-profile releases. While Assassin's Creed Shadows has slipped to March and Date Everything has been delayed to June, the month ahead still has a brand-new Like a Dragon game, a new first-party release from Xbox Game Studios, and Capcom's popular Monster Hunter series is making a grand return to PC and consoles.
Between the AAA releases, there are also several interesting indies hitting the scene. You've got Rift of the NecroDancer for rhythmic action, Don't Nod is launching a new IP utilizing its signature episodic structure, and there's even a game about digging a hole to look forward to. Overall, it's a pretty great month to pick up some new releases thanks to the variety of new games on offer, and we've also rounded up a few of the cool pieces of gaming hardware arriving in February, like the PlayStation Midnight Black collection and an eggs-quisite Tamagotchi.
For a closer look at what the rest of the year holds in store, you can check out GameSpot's list of upcoming 2025 video games and looks at the most-anticipated games on the way:
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
- Release date: February 4
- Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
Ready to get medieval on the armor-plated butts of some knaves who are looking to pick a fight with you? Then you can suit up for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and return to the land of Bohemia for some first-person-slashing. Like its predecessor, Warhorse has used its keen eye for historical accuracy to create an authentic version of 15th-century Europe, while also aiming to introduce a few creative liberties. The game will also have an impressive amount of post-launch content to look forward to after release.
Tamagotchi: Celebration Egg
- Release date: February 5
Decades after it first took the world by storm, the pocket-sized Tamagotchi virtual pet toy is still around and kicking. This month sees a new variant launch and it looks egg-cellent. Not just egg-themed in design, this Tamagotchi has recycled egg materials in its construction.
Rift of the NecroDancer
- Release date: February 5
- Platforms: PC, Switch
The NecroDancer makes a comeback in February with a brand-new rhythm game. You can expect musical combat and challenging foes as you work toward stopping a monster invasion. The soundtrack for the game features dozens of tracks from popular composers, including Danny Baranowsky, Jules Conroy, Alex Moukala, Josie Brechner, Sam Webster, and Nick Nausbaum.
Sworn
- Release date: February 6
- Platforms: PC
Arthurian legend has been the foundation for many great games, but Sworn puts a neat twist on those myths by asking you to reclaim a fallen Camelot from a corrupted Arthur and his Knights of the round table. A co-op roguelike game for up to four players, it's up to you and your fellow knights to save the day from dark forces. Fortunately, the Fae Lords are willing to lend you a hand in the form of hundreds of unique blessings that can be combined to create powerful builds in this Hades-like game.
Big Helmet Heroes
- Release date: February 6
- Platforms: PC
There aren't enough beat-'em-up games featuring characters with massively oversized heads, but fortunately, Big Helmet Heroes is stepping in to fulfill that extremely specific niche in gaming. So far, the game looks visually impressive and its co-op action looks like fun thanks to the four distinct combat styles on offer.
A Game About Digging a Hole
- Release date: February 7
- Platforms: PC
You're not going to believe this, but A Game About Digging a Hole is a game about digging a hole.
Civilization 7
- Release date: February 11
- Platforms: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch
Turn-based strategy games have become hugely popular over the years, and with new challengers to its 4X throne, Civilization 7 can't afford to rest on its laurels. Fortunately, this new entry in the franchise looks like it'll be eating up a lot of your spare time with all of the new gameplay elements being introduced by developer Firaxis. At its core, Civilization 7 is still a game about building the greatest empire in human history, and it'll be up to you to create a dynasty that can stand the test of time. Notably, we'll also see the game release day-and-date across PC and consoles.
Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered
- Release date: February 14
- Platforms: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch
It was only a matter of time before a few more of Lara Croft's classic adventures made it to console and PC, following the generally well-received release of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered last year. This is a bit of a bittersweet collection, as while Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation and Tomb Raider: Chronicles have their fans, Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness is generally regarded as the black sheep of the action-archeology family.
You'll be able to play all three games in their original and enhanced graphical forms, as well as several quality-of-life upgrades in this package.
Project Tachyon
- Release date: February 14
- Platforms: PC
For anyone looking to engage in some side-scrolling bullet-hell action--and with a few roguelite mechanics thrown in for good measure--Project Tachyon might scratch your itch for over-the-top combat and anime-inspired visuals.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak 2
- Release date: February 14
- Platforms: PC, PS5, PS4, Switch
Nihon Falcom's Trails games have been some of the best hidden gems when it comes to old-school RPG adventures, with Trails Through Daybreak being a particularly good entry in the series. Trails Through Daybreak 2 is aiming to continue that trend by offering a change of scenery, new faces to the cast, and a surprisingly darker storyline revolving around murder, mystery, and magic.
Avowed
- Release date: February 18
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S
The first half of 2025 is looking stacked for Xbox, and leading the charge is Obsidian Entertainment's dive into fantasy with Avowed. Similar to its work on The Outer Worlds, Avowed gives you multiple zones in which to hone your spellcraft and fighting skills, but the real charm to this game might lie in all the stories and adventures waiting to be discovered when you wander off the beaten path.
Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 1
- Release date: February 18
- Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
Fans of Don't Nods episodic games can look forward to a new narrative-adventure with Lost Records: Bloom and Rage. Imagine Stand By Me mixed with I Know What You Did Last Summer, and you'll have a good idea of what to expect from this new Don't Nod game as it focuses on four teenage girls in 1995, a central mystery, and unique camcorder gameplay mechanics.
PlayStation Midnight Collection
- Release date: February 20
- Platforms: PS5
Sony has been steadily increasing its range of color options for its PlayStation 5 hardware, and this month, you can grab some of its gear in a heavy metal shade of black. The Midnight Black collection covers the DualSense Edge controller, PlayStation Portal handheld, Pulse Elite headset, and Pulse Explore earbuds, wrapping all of that gaming tech in a slick matte black finish.
Walmart
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
- Release date: February 21
- Platforms: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One
A Yakuza game without Goro Majima causing some chaos just wouldn't feel right, and this year, the infamous troublemaker gets to hog the spotlight in his very first solo game. Dealing with a case of amnesia, Majima soon finds himself captaining his very own vessel in the oceans surrounding Hawaii--and naturally--it's not long before the ex-yakuza crosses swords with modern-day pirates as he searches for lost treasure and his memories.
Die in the Dungeon
- Release date: February 21
- Platforms: PC
In case you haven't had your fill of deckbuilding roguelikes, Die in the Dungeon is another entry in this popular fusion of genres. You've also got turn-based strategy thrown into the mix, as you'll deal with enemies by combining powerful dice on your board and risking everything on a throw of the dice.
The Plucky Squire (Physical Edition)
- Release date: PS5, Switch
- Platforms: February 21
In case you missed it, one of the best games of 2024 is getting a physical release this year. Standard and deluxe editions of The Plucky Squire will be available for Switch and PS5, with pricing starting at $35. If you feel like spoiling yourself, the $55 deluxe edition comes with an art book, soundtrack, and collector's box.
Ninja Five-O
- Release date: February 25
- Platforms: PC, PS5, PS4, Switch
Another Game Boy Advance making a comeback, 2003's Ninja Five-O returns with a vengeance to PC, PlayStation, and Switch this month. Ninja-cop Joe Osugi has to save the day once again, and this re-release of the classic action game features new quality-of-life updates like quick-saves and the option to rewind the game at any time.
Yu-Gi-Oh: Early Days Collection
- Release date: February 27
- Platforms: PC, Switch
When the Yu-Gi-Oh manga, anime series, and tie-in trading-card game became a massive success story in the late '90s and early 2000s, video game adaptations weren't far behind. Many of the early games were first released on Nintendo's Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance handhelds, and that's where they've stayed for many years.
This year, you can dive into those classic Yu-Gi-Oh games with a comprehensive collection of 14 titles, five of which are being released in North America for the first time. Collectors will want to grab the physical edition, as it comes with a limited-edition Yu-Gi-Oh card.
In case you missed it, here's the full list of games that'll be included:
- Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters (1998, GB) - New
- Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters 2: Dark Duel Stories (1999, GBC) - New
- Yu-Gi-Oh Monster Capsule GB (2000, GBC) - New

- Yu-Gi-Oh The Sacred Cards (2002, GBA)

Monster Hunter Wilds
- Release date: February 28
- Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
The Monster Hunter series has been better than ever thanks to superb games like Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise, and the latest entry is looking like an ambitious and streamlined follow-up. The recent open betas have given players a good idea of what to expect from the full release, and if post-launch support is anything like what we experienced in the previous games, it looks like fans will be spending a lot of time finding deadly beasts and using new gameplay mechanics to subdue them.
PGA Tour 2K25
- Release date: February 28
- Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
This year's installment in the PGA series is shaping up nicely, as the golf-simulator will once again feature a stacked roster of rising stars and legends, a rich selection of golf courses to visit, and a new "EvoSwing" system that 2K says will make the game feel even more realistic.
Legion Go S (Windows Version)
- Release date: February TBC
Later this year, the Lenovo Legion Go S will be the first PC handheld gaming system to run on Valve's SteamOS outside of its Steam Deck. While you'll have to wait until May for that version of the handheld to launch, a Windows version is launching this month. The Legion Go S is equipped with the new AMD Ryzen Z2 Go chip, 32GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD.
There's also an eight-inch 1920 x 1200 LCD display with 120Hz variable refresh rate, adjustable RGB light rings around the analog sticks, two back buttons, a trackpad, and increased battery capacity.
