We talk about how long it takes to beat Monster Hunter Wilds, as well as the main missions and optional objectives. Likewise, please be reminded that this article contains minor spoilers.
How long is Monster Hunter Wilds - Campaign length and mission list guide
Generally speaking, you can beat Monster Hunter Wilds in roughly 14 to 16 hours. Of course, this assumes that you're just going to breeze through the whole campaign, focusing on main quests and grabbing a few upgrades along the way.
The campaign length is significantly shorter than its predecessors, Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise. According to player polls, those who beat those games needed 47 hours to clear World and 23 hours to finish Rise.
While this might seem concerning, it nonetheless means that you get to tackle Monster Hunter Wilds' endgame a lot sooner. After all, the endgame is where many players spend most of their time.

This particular segment is more open-ended. You fight tougher variants of creatures in every region to obtain high-end materials, all while increasing your Hunter Rank (HR). Then, once you've completed Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns, you'll encounter more terrifying beasts--they're extremely difficult to take down, but they do reward you with some top-tier items. You'll also receive several main missions past this point, though we don't want to spoil the surprises ahead.
Other activities

Monster Hunter Wilds' gameplay loop involves tracking down creatures, defeating them, and using the materials to acquire upgrades. As such, most of your time is spent grinding to get better gear--from the moment you start, all the way to the endgame. However, there are also many side quests that you can tackle, such as those that net you additional resources or Palico actions/abilities.
Moreover, you can tackle Item Trade side quests from NPCs. These involve bringing a particular item that you can exchange for a reward.
