Destiny 2 Revenant - Every New Exotic In The Episode (So Far)
With Destiny 2's new episode, Revenant, comes a host of new items to collect. As is usually the case, the content refresh also introduces a bunch of new Exotics, including a weapon and several pieces of armor, for you to find, offering new opportunities for builds and approaches to combat.
It's early in the Act 1 of Revenant, but already there are a few Exotics that are worth knowing about and understanding so you can work them into new builds. They include a new battle pass Exotic weapon and an Exotic sniper rifle returning from the original Destiny--Ice Breaker. Here is everything you need to know about Revenant's new Exotics, including what they do and where you can nab them.
Alethonym (Stasis Breech-Loading Grenade Launcher)
Revenant's season-pass weapon is available either as soon as you start Revenant, if you've purchased the season pass, or at Tier 40 on its free track if you haven't. It's a pretty remarkable gun, giving you the chance to play a support role on your team while still knocking out lots of enemies quickly.
Alethonym is a Stasis grenade launcher that uses primary ammo--the first to do that since Fighting Lion. When you get final blows with it or impale a more powerful enemy with the exploding ice stake the gun fires, it creates Vestiges, blue floating items that will fly toward you. Picking up remnants charge up Alethonym; when the gun is half-charged, you can hold down the reload button to access its alternate fire mode, which replaces the ice stake with a Special ammo brick. At full charge, reload by holding the button twice in a row, and it'll fire a Heavy ammo brick.
So charging up the gun lets you fire a brick of ammo out onto the battlefield, which you and your fireteam can then pick up. Alethonym lets you be the ammo supplier for your squad, which can be very helpful in high-level content like the Vesper's Host dungeon. It's the only gun in Destiny 2 that gives you the opportunity to make ammo for your teammates on demand.
Ice Breaker (Solar Sniper Rifle)
Returning from Destiny is Ice Breaker, a powerful Special ammo sniper rifle that was kind of game-breaking in the original game. That version of the gun couldn't be reloaded, but regenerated ammo for itself over time. Bungie has worked to preserve that fantasy without totally breaking the ammo economy with the return of Ice Breaker, so the gun has been tweaked a bit in its new form.
The new Ice Breaker features the No Backpack perk, where there's a chance for ammo to be created with Ice Breaker when you get kills with your other weapons. Defeating a powerful enemy can create multiple rounds for Ice Breaker.
The gun also causes enemies to explode when you kill them. If you kill an enemy with a precision hit or shatter a frozen enemy, it'll trigger a Solar ignition, damaging nearby enemies with Scorch and burning them and the target.
Ice Breaker is the Exotic weapon you can earn from Revenant's dungeon, Vesper's Host. We'll update this list when we know exactly how you can get it, as well as its Exotic Catalyst.
Mask Of Fealty (Hunter Helmet)
The new Hunter Exotic in Revenant works with the big emphasis placed on Stasis builds with the Episode's Artifact mods. It enhances your Withering Blade melee, the Stasis shurikens Hunters can throw. With Mask of Fealty equipped, Withering Blade hits and bounces create small Stasis crystals wherever they are, while also refunding some of your melee energy. If you then shatter any Stasis crystals or frozen targets with your Withering Blades, they'll release a group of additional Withering Blades in a spread, potentially hitting more targets and applying more Stasis debuffs.
With Episode: Echoes, Bungie changed how you can get these Exotic armors--they used to come from Legend-level Lost Sectors. Now, you need to buy them from Cryptarch Rahool in the Tower after ranking up his Reputation level to 16. To boost your rep, you'll need to decrypt a lot of engrams.
Rime-Coat Raiment (Warlock Chest Armor)
Warlocks get their beloved Bleak Watcher turrets powered up with Rime-Coat Raiment, adding a big boost to Stasis and Prismatic builds. Turrets get extended range while you're wearing the Exotic, and they're also surrounded by both an ice storm and Stasis crystals. If you stand in the storm, you gain icicles over time, which activate when you shoot your weapon and apply Slow to enemies you hit.
This is another Exotic armor you have to get from Rahool after leveling up his reputation level.
Blastwave Striders (Titan Leg Armor)
If you like rocket-jumping, you'll love Blastwave Striders. First, the armor makes you more resistant to explosives, so you'll take less damage from blowing yourself up. Next, the armor is charged up as you defeat enemies, and once it's fully charged, you can slide or deal damage to yourself with an explosive to trigger an automatic backward rocket jump that also blasts shrapnel out around you. That shrapnel creates Stasis crystals when it impacts things, while the charged rocket jump gives you Frost Armor. That sounds like it could be pretty powerful in Crucible close encounters.
Like the other Exotic armors, you'll have to get this one from Rahool, but only once you've reached the top of his loyalty program.
