‘Would like to play there’ – Barcelona target openly confesses La Liga dream

Barcelona target Jonathan David has once again expressed his strong desire to play in La Liga, making it clear that Spain’s top division remains his preferred destination.

The Lille forward has been eagerly waiting for Barcelona to make a move, as he carefully weighs his next career step.

With his contract set to expire, he believes that at his age, 25, he is ready to take the next big leap in his career by joining a club capable of competing for major honours.

Praising La Liga

During his time with the Canadian national team, David has been open about his future ambitions.

He has spoken about his admiration for La Liga, highlighting it as the league he has followed the most while growing up.

While he acknowledges the physical intensity of the Premier League, he has made it clear that his heart is set on Spanish football.

“The Premier League is much faster and more physical than the rest of the championships but, in my opinion, I grew up watching a lot of La Liga games and it’s my favourite competition.

“One day I would like to play there,” he said as quoted by SPORT.

Barcelona’s striker conundrum

For months, Barcelona and David have been linked, as the club looks for a reliable striker to support and eventually replace Robert Lewandowski.

Financial constraints make their search even more challenging, but David remains one of the few affordable and promising options available.

His playing style and goal-scoring ability fit the profile of what Barcelona need, and his patience in waiting for their decision only strengthens his case.

Barcelona are fully aware of David’s situation and his eagerness to join. However, the club is taking its time assessing market conditions and financial feasibility before making a commitment.

Meanwhile, Premier League clubs are actively pushing for his signature, and Lille are still making a last-ditch effort to renew his contract.
