Women’s team | Martina Lenzini in the FIGC Top 11 for the 2023/2024 season
Recognition for the 1998 born defender at ‘Women4Football’. The event held in Rome this afternoon, Monday 24th March 2025, was first and foremost a day of celebration. That’s because the second edition of the ‘Women4Football’ event, organised by the Italian Footballers Association (AIC), celebrated other Italian women footballers as well, at the splendid Salone d'Onore of CONI, in Rome, and was attended by all the institutions and the highest authorities in Italian football.
AIC vice-president Sara Gama said ‘I thank President Malagò for his hospitality and also Umberto Calcagno for believing in women's football. We wanted to put the girls who are winning awards this year front and centre, as well as acknowledging previous generations of women who have made this possible'.
Awards for the eleven best female footballers of the 2023/2024 football season were handed out and Juventus was represented by Martina Lenzini, who was voted one of the best defenders in the league this season. In keeping with tradition, the awards represented recognition of the players’ peers, because the votes were cast in recent months by footballers themselves. Martina Lenzini had this to say at the award ceremony: ‘We became professional footballers thanks to the work of all the women who came before us. Once again, I want to thank all those women who came before us who laid the groundwork for us. We will continue to build on this work and carry it forward.’
Also present at the event, representing the Italian Footballers Association, was Martina Rosucci, who awarded the prize for the best female footballer of the year. ‘My sporting journey has not been an easy one, but I have been lucky enough to have the support of the club, my team-mates and my family. Today it is wonderful to feel part of something really big. We never take this for granted and it is really very exciting’.
Arianna Caruso also made last season Top 11, as a midfielder, for the bianconeri.
Eva Schatzer made a special guest appearance at the ‘Golden Hearts’ event in the Teatro Concordia in Venaria Reale on the evening of Friday 21st March. The event shone a spotlight on clubs, managers, young talent and promising footballers who all typify the most important value on the pitch: respect for the opponent.
