Winners (UCLA) and losers (Notre Dame) from the 2025 women's NCAA tournament bracket reveal
The 2025 women's NCAA tournament bracket is complete.
Alright, folks. After months of anticipation, we finally know who's going dancing. It will all be on the line when the tournament kicks off on March 19. Nearly 70 teams want a chance at postseason glory.
SURVIVOR POOL: Free to enter. $2,500 to win. Can you survive the madness?
Unfortunately, the road to get there might be smooth for some programs and an uphill battle for others as everyone works to get to the Final Four in Tampa, Florida. So, with this in mind, let's look at the winners and losers from this year's 68-team women's bracket. Here are the winners and losers from Selection Sunday:
Winner: UCLA Bruins
The Bruins can breathe a sigh of relief.
They are the No. 1 seed in their region and the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA tournament. They've been so good all year, with their only losses coming to USC. They avenged those defeats with a massive win over the Trojans in the Big Ten conference tournament.
Loser: Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Notre Dame being a No. 3 seed in the tournament was the largest shock of the night, but if you've been paying attention, it was easy to see coming. The team's three losses against ranked opponents within the last five games couldn't have come at a worse time, and everyone else around them elevated their games while the Fighting Irish had more questions than answers.
It's a tough pill for Niele Ivey's squad, but there's some possible light at the end of the tunnel if they can get back to form. There's a potential rematch with TCU waiting in the wings, and if they get a match up with Texas, that's an opportunity to right the ship as well. This season, Notre Dame beat the Longhorns in a December overtime game, 80-70.
Winner: TCU Horned Frogs
Holy Horned Frogs, Batman.
TCU is going dancing with a No. 2 seed. This is fantastic news for the Horned Frogs, and head coach Mark Campbell has to be thrilled. Under his leadership and some standout play from guard Hailey Van Lith, TCU won the Big 12 and will get to host games in the NCAA tournament.
Looser: Tennessee Lady Volunteers
Tennessee shouldn't be shocked by its No. 5 seed in its region, considering how inconsistent the team has been in the last few weeks.
It's hard to know which version of the Volunteers shows up from game to game, and that's not a great feeling. Unfortunately, what does inconsistency get Kim Caldwell's squad? Traveling during the tournament. WOOF. Good luck, Vols.
Winner: Ivy League programs
Shoutout to the hoopers at Ivy League schools.
Three programs are going to the Big Dance, thanks to some outstanding basketball. (Harvard, Columbia and Princeton are all in — tremendous stuff.) Fans deserved to see more names on college basketball's biggest stage, and here's one to watch: Harvard's Harmoni Turner. THANK ME LATER.
