England head coach Sarina Wiegman has offered an international call-up to Tottenham Hotspur forward Jess Nas ahead of Tuesday’s UEFA Women’s Nations League fixture against Belgium in Leuven.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official press release from The Football Association this afternoon.
The 24-year-old attacker returns to the England squad after collecting her most recent cap in the February international window. Nas has made six England appearances to date after being handed her senior Lionesses debut last year.
Nas’ late call-up comes as Chelsea forward Lauren James exits the England camp. The player is struggling with a hamstring injury and is returning to her club for treatment. James sustained the injury during last night’s 5-0 UEFA Women’s Nations League victory over Belgium at Ashton Gate in Bristol. The player was replaced by her Chelsea teammate Aggie Beever-Jones at half-time.
James is the second player to withdraw from England duty in the current camp. Arsenal forward Chloe Kelly also pulled out of the squad on Friday after struggling with an ongoing foot problem. England boss Wiegman opted against drafting in a replacement for Kelly.
England’s latest UEFA Women’s Nations League fixture against Belgium kicks-off at 7.30pm Tuesday evening.
