Who's left in men's March Madness? Bracket updates, schedule, predictions
We have reached the Sweet 16 in the men's NCAA tournament and it's been a whirlwind of thrilling moments and surprising upsets.
The defending back-to-back champions, No. 8 seed UConn Huskies, lost to the top-seeded Florida Gators, 77-75. Meanwhile, the Houston Cougars, Duke Blue Devils, and Auburn Tigers, all of which are top seeds, continue their pursuit of the national championship.
Here are the last 16 teams remaining and the schedule as they hope to advance to the Elite Eight.
Sweet 16 reseed: March Madness power rankings of the teams in the men's NCAA Tournament
Men's Sweet 16 predictions
USA Today: No. 6 BYU beats No. 2 Alabama
Blake Toppmeyer writes: "No. 6 BYU and No. 2 Alabama are two of the nation's best offensive teams. They're not so good on defense. First team to 95 points wins? Alabama allowed 81 points to Robert Morris in the first round. That defense leaves the Tide vulnerable against a BYU team that drilled 12 3-pointers in a second-round takedown of Wisconsin."
ESPN: No. 2 Michigan State over No. 6 Ole Miss
Myron Medcalf writes: "Over its first two NCAA tournament games, Ole Miss made nearly half of its 3-point attempts. Michigan State, the top 3-point defensive team in America, will try to prevent Ole Miss from continuing that form. Besides that, Tom Izzo's squad dominates on the offensive glass, and Spartans guard Jase Richardson will be the best player on the court. It all adds up to a Michigan State win."
CBS Sports: No. 2 Tennessee over No. 3 Kentucky
Staff writes: "Guards Zakai Zeigler and Jahmai Mashack are among the best defenders in college basketball, and transfer guard Chaz Lanier is an elite scorer. Meanwhile, Kentucky is playing without second-leading scorer Jaxson Robinson due to a season-ending injury. The model expects Tennessee to iron out its issues from the regular season meetings between these rivals and advance to the Elite Eight for the second year in a row."
Bleacher Report: No. 10 Arkansas over No. 3 Texas Tech
Zach Buckley writes: "It's been an up and down season for Arkansas, but this team is coming in hot. The Razorbacks have won five of their last six games, and their only slipup was a three-point loss to an Ole Miss team that secured its own Sweet 16 spot."
247Sports: No. 1 Florida over No. 4 Maryland
Brad Crawford writes: "The Gators look like the eventual national champions, right? Getting past two-time defending champ UConn during the first weekend's best game was a momentum-booster for Florida and now, Todd Golden's squad is a favorite against the Terrapins with a spot in the Elite Eight up for grabs. The path to a Final Four berth is clear and there's not a team in the tournament with more dominant guard play than the Gators at the moment."
College Football News: No. 1 Houston over No.4 Purdue
Staff writes: "Purdue might have played for the national title last year, and it's showing up well so far with a far smaller lineup that relies on plucky quick guards and ... that's not going to work in any. way against this Houston defense with a few days of rest."
