TCU stands for Texas Christian University. The private Christian university was established in 1873 by brothers Addison and Randolph Clark.
What is a Horned Frog?
Although the name is horned frog, the species' real is name is "Texas horned lizard" because it has spikes. But in Texas, the animal is known as a horned frog. The school earned the name when the founders were thinking of different names and found that the football field was covered in "small-but-mighty horned lizards."
