What will the weather be like for NFL draft? Here's an early indication from National Weather Service
GREEN BAY - Early climate predictions signal the Green Bay area will be warmer and wetter than normal during the 2025 NFL draft in April, according to the National Weather Service Green Bay.
Wisconsin's unpredictable spring weather makes it difficult to know what to expect when the NFL draft comes to town; heavy snow, storms or sunshine are all on the table for an April weekend in Green Bay.
While one month ahead of the event is still too early for a true forecast, the National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center shows how the weather is expected to vary from average conditions.
For the Green Bay area, the normal temperature for the end of April is 56-57 degrees, meteorologist Jillian Goodin said, and normal precipitation is 0.1 inch. The Climate Prediction Center signals that the end of April this year will see slightly above normal temperature and precipitation, Goodin said, predicting a generally warmer and wetter April 24-26.
Despite an average temperature in the 50s, the normal low temperature for the month of April is just 36 degrees. This time of year, it is likely for temperatures to drop approaching sunset, meteorologist Timm Uhlmann said, so bringing clothing options is recommended.
"That's the time of year where, if you're getting up early in the morning, you're probably going to be wearing a sweatshirt and you might take it off during the day," Uhlmann said. "And then put it back on as it gets colder."
The prediction is in line with the Old Farmer's Almanac's April 2025 long-range weather forecast for the upper Midwest, which describes weather conditions from April 20-30 as "very warm, then chilly," with drizzle in the east and sun in the west.
A look back at National Weather Service data for April 24-26 over the past decade shows a wide range of temperatures with consistently low amounts of rain and no instances of snow beyond a trace amount.
Weather data from the past decade on April 24-26
The National Weather Service records daily temperature highs, lows and averages, as well as precipitation and snowfall measurements, going as far back as September 1886. An analysis of weather from April 24-26 over the past 10 years provides a glimpse into the kind of weather Green Bay could see during the draft.
Consistently over the decade there has been very low precipitation each of the three days, with the highest being 0.26 inch on April 24, 2023. Snow during the three-day period has been generally nonexistent, with no days having any more than a trace amount.
