We have an awesome Detroit Tigers book coming celebrating 125 seasons of epic history
On April 25, 1901, in their first game as a major-league team, the Detroit Tigers trailed by nine runs in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Milwaukee Brewers. Fourteen batters later, Frank (Pop) Dillon laced his fourth ground-rule double — each into the overflow crowd clogging Bennett Park’s outfield — for the final two runs in a 14-13 Tigers victory.
Ever since that initial afternoon at Michigan and Trumbull — when fans hoisted Dillon on their shoulders and paraded him around the diamond after a 10-run rally — the Tigers have become a cherished institution for generation after generation of Michiganders. And while every season, whether the club with the Old English D finished first or last, provided thrills and chills, this season will be more historic than most.
Because in 2025, the Tigers will play their 125th major-league season.
To celebrate this quasquicentennial, the Detroit Free Press has started work on a hardcover, coffee-table book that will chronicle the history of the Tigers.

From Ty Cobb to Al Kaline to Miguel Cabrera to Tarik Skubal. From championships during the Depression, after World War II, after devasting riots and with a 35-5 start. From no-hitters to Triple Crowns (hitting and pitching) to a 30-game winner to a 28-out perfect game.
It will all be in “Roar of 125: The Epic History of the Detroit Tigers!”
