Wayne Gretzky delivered a perfect speech after Alex Ovechkin finally broke the NHL goals record

Alex Ovechkin finally did it. On Sunday afternoon, in a nationally broadcast game against the New York Islanders, the Washington Capitals legend scored the 895th goal of his career to officially break Wayne Gretzky's all-time NHL record mark. It's one of those records we once truly never thought would fall, making the ensuing madness of the Capitals' celebration for Ovechkin all the more appropriate.

Gretzky himself managed to make Ovechkin's triumphant moment even more special.

In a ceremony on the ice, Gretzky delivered a beautiful, heartfelt speech to honor Ovechkin in a manner only he could. It's almost as if "The Great One" perfectly prepared for this moment for "The Gr8 One."

Man, it doesn't get any better than that. Gretzky seems like a class act all around for doing this.
