Watch: Bernhard Langer gets emotional farewell on 18th green from Masters competition

One of the best players in Masters history had a fitting farewell on Friday.

Bernhard Langer, who won green jackets in 1985 and 1993, was competing in his final Masters this week. On Thursday, he wore an outfit similar to what he wore when he won for the first time. On Friday, he was chasing a made cut.

On the par-5 15th, his third shot landed in the middle of the green and spun back into the pond. He doubled the hole, dropping him to 2 over for the tournament. On 18, he needed par to safely make the cut, but the putt missed by an inch. He finished at 3 over, and the projected cut was 2 over with about two hours left in the day.

It didn't matter. The 67-year-old Langer got a raucous ovation after he tapped in for bogey, and Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley was waiting nearby to bid him farewell.

There's a slight chance Langer makes the cut, so he may have more golf left at Augusta National.

But if Friday was his finale, it was a fitting one.
