Warriors handle business vs. Blazers, set stage for pivotal regular season finale

After dropping one of their worst losses of the season on Wednesday night to the San Antonio Spurs, the Golden State Warriors bounced back on Friday night in their final road game of the regular-season against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Jimmy Butler led the Warriors with 24 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field with seven assists and four rebounds in 28 minutes. While Butler helped fuel the offense, Golden State's defense put away a cold Portland offense.

Golden State's defense held Portland to only 37 points in the first half, their lowest scoring half of the season. The Trail Blazers finished the game with 86 points on 37.6% shooting from the field, 20% from beyond the and 22 turnovers.

Buddy Hield led the Warriors off the bench with 16 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field to go along with four made 3-pointers in 23 minutes. In the first quarter, Hield knocked down his 200th 3-pointer of the season, becoming only the fifth player in NBA history to hit 200 or more 3-pointers in seven consecutive seasons.

With a win on Friday night, the Warriors have set the stage for a pivotal contest in their regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Clippers. A win over the Clippers on Sunday would lock up the No. 6 seed for the Warriors. A loss would likely push the Warriors to the No. 7 seed, sending them to the play-in tournament. The Warriors still have the chance to get to the No. 6 seed with a loss. But they would need the Utah Jazz to knock off the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.

The Warriors will meet the Clippers at Chase Center on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. PT.
