Updating Clemson baseball in college polls after Notre Dame series win, 19-2 start
CLEMSON — Clemson baseball remained at No. 6 in the USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches poll released on Monday.
The Tigers (19-2, 2-1 ACC) received 588 points but no first-place votes. They are the second-highest ACC team, finishing behind No. 4 Florida State.
Clemson, which was picked to finish fourth in the ACC baseball preseason poll, was on a 17-game win streak dating back to Feb. 21. It won its first ACC series against Notre Dame this past week but dropped the finale to snap its win streak.
Clemson faces The Citadel on Tuesday (6 p.m. ET, ACC Network Extra) and Wednesday (6 p.m. ET, ACC Network Extra) this week at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Then, it hosts No. 13 Wake Forest at home in its first ranked series.
Tennessee, last year's national champion, is the No. 1 team in the coaches poll, earning 750 points and all first-place votes.
Three other ACC schools made the Top 25: Wake Forest (No. 13), Stanford (14), North Carolina (15), Louisville (20) and Virginia (22).
The USA TODAY Sports Board of Coaches is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of made up of 30 head coaches at Division I institutions.
