Aaron Leanhardt may not have been a household name in Major League Baseball.
But thanks to his invention of the torpedo bat that's taken over the league in 2025, the former MIT physicist has become a celebrity of sorts.
EVERYTHING TO KNOW ABOUT THE TORPEDO BAT: From design to rules
And on Monday, Leanhardt spoke to reporters about his invention on the same night Elly De La Cruz went OFF using one.
But he kept it classy. Per MLB.com, he had this to say: "At the end of the day, it's about the batter, not the bat. It's about the hitters and their hitting coaches, not the hitting implements. So I'm happy to always help those guys get a little bit better, but ultimately, it's up to them to put good swings on pitches and grind it out every day. So, credit to those guys."
We'll see as the season goes on if the torpedo bats really are responsible for more hitting. But we know other teams are jumping on the trend lightning fast.
Which MLB players are using torpedo bats?
Great question! We have a running list of torpedo bat users we're adding to as the names pop up.
