Tom Izzo wins regional NABC Coach of the Year award
Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo received some recognition for his Spartans' strong season on Tuesday afternoon.
Izzo was named the Coach of the Year in the Great Lakes District by the National Association of Basketball Coaches on Tuesday. This is the second coach the year award for Izzo in the last few weeks, as he also won Big Ten Coach of the Year last week.
Izzo led Michigan State to the Big Ten Championship this year, with the Spartans running away with the league title. The Spartans finished the regular season with a 26-5 overall record and 17-3 mark in Big Ten play to win the league by three games.
Michigan State was selected to the NCAA Tournament for a 27th consecutive tournament, which is the longest active streak in all of college basketball. Michigan State is a No. 2 seed in the tournament and will face No. 15 seed Bryant in the first round on Friday night.
