As Corey Conners played his way into contention at the 89th Masters Tournament, his twin sister Nicole went to work outside the ropes.
When an elderly patron slipped on some pine straw beneath a TV camera near the sixth green Friday, Nicole quickly came to her aid. Canadian journalist Adam Stanley first tweeted about the incident.
“I looked over and her left foot was basically sideways, clearly fractured or dislocated,” said Nicole while out watching Corey play in the penultimate pairing on Sunday.
“There were some other patrons that were helping her up and as she tried to take some steps, she was unable to, given her foot.”
Conners, a family physician who’s been practicing for a year and a half, reduced the dislocation, noting that the patron wasn’t in too much discomfort as she put the bones back in position.
“Once I reduced it,” she said, “I just kind of held it there until the paramedics arrived.”
Nicole later learned that the patient had previously fractured that same ankle.
Corey Conners' twin sister Nicole had an eventful Masters. She's a doctor and an elderly lady fell down on No. 6 and broke her ankle... and Dr. Conners had to set it until the paramedics arrived.

And you thought being in the penultimate pairing was stressful!
Corey makes his eighth Masters start this week, and Nicole has been part of his gallery for five of them. After graduating from University College Cork in Ireland, Nicole returned to her hometown of Listowel, Ontario, to follow in the footsteps of her grandfather and great-grandfather.
Dr. Conners has been checking on lab results in between rounds and heads back into the clinic on Tuesday.
“It’s surreal,” said Nicole of watching her slightly older brother make a run for his first major championship title.
“I’m so proud of him.”
