Now that the ink is dry on Buzz Williams' new contract as head coach of Maryland basketball, it is time to say goodbye.
Williams left College Station after six years as the Texas A&M men's basketball head coach and a 2-3 record in the NCAA Tournament. All tournament appearances for the Aggies ended in the first weekend. He also coached the Aggies to the 2022 NIT championship, where they lost to Xavier 73-72.
With Williams moving on to another coaching job, he shared a statement to the social media app X thanking fans, current players, former players and school administrators.
"Words cannot describe how thankful I am for the past six years. Every relationship, every contribution, every Buzz's Bunch camp, all the historic things we accomplished together, and most importantly, that you welcomed myself and my family with open arms," he wrote.
For those unaware, the 12th Man is the fans of Texas A&M and "Buzz's Bunch" is Williams' non-profit organization to help children with special needs "fall in love with the game of basketball," according to the website.
"The love and care of the people and this place is special and we will never forget our time here," Williams said.
