Texans WR Tank Dell celebrates Derek Stingley Jr.'s massive extension
Tank Dell is beyond ecstatic for his teammate Derek Stingley Jr.'s new deal that will keep him with the Houston Texans through 2029.
Stingley, fresh off an All-Pro season, and the Texans agreed to terms on a three-year, $90 million extension that will make him the highest-paid cornerback in the league. His new salary will come in at $30 million starting in 2026 after he closes out on his rookie contract.
Dell, who likely will miss the majority of his third season after undergoing multiple surgeries this offseason, made sure to show Stingley his flowers. His response was simple but heartfelt as he posted to his Instagram story, “Deserve it” when talking about Stingley's new deal.
Derek Stingley Jr. allowed just 4.9 yards per target last season, the fewest among outside cornerbacks (min. 30 targets).

Stingley also allowed only 42 completions across 90 targets, including 18 passes defensed.@HoustonTexans | #HTownMadehttps://t.co/IW9hNr4QAZpic.twitter.com/K8WSTOB8rK
Stingley proved last season was one of the league's top cover corners after playing in all 17 games for the first time in his career. He totale five interceptions and 18 pass breakups, which ranked among top 10 in the league. He also allowed the second-lowest completion percentage among cornerbacks with at least 200 coverage snaps (46.7%), according to NFL Next Gen Stats.
With the Texans picking up Stingley's 2025 fifth-year option for $17.6 million, the contract is actually for $107.6 million over the next four seasons. So long as he stays healthy, it could be a steal compared to other names looking to get paid this offseason.
