Tennessee baseball starts 2025 season 20-0
No. 1 Tennessee (20-0, 3-0 SEC) extended its best start to a baseball season on Sunday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Vols defeated No. 7 Florida (16-5, 0-3 SEC), 7-4, to extend their win streak to 22 games, dating to the 2024 season.
Dylan Loy (3-0) earned a win for Tennessee in the series finale. He pitched three innings in relief, recording five strikeouts and not allowing a run or walk. Loy surrendered one hit against the Gators. He totaled 41 pitches, including 30 strikes, against 11 batters.
Nate Snead earned his third save of the season. He pitched the final two innings and totaled 31 pitches (24 strikes).
Tennessee's offense produced six hits including home runs from Reese Chapman and Gavin Kilen. Dalton Bargo and Cannon Peebles hit the Vols' two doubles in the series finale.
Tennessee will next play Tuesday against East Tennessee State at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. First pitch between the Vols and Buccaneers is slated for 5 p.m. EDT (SEC Network+).
