Reece James has been speaking about Enzo Maresca and revealed what’s surprised him most about the Italian.
Maresca replaced Pochettino last summer after guiding Leicester to the Championship title , and signed a five year deal at Stamford Bridge.
The 45-year-old made a brilliant start to the season with Chelsea flying high in second at Christmas, but things have taken a turn since then, and the Blues now face a nine game shootout to qualify for the Champions League.
James on what’s impressed him about Maresca
James has once again suffered injury issues this season, but he’s managed to stay fit since returning from his latest setback.
The 25-year-old scored his first goal for England against Latvia earlier this month, and the 14 appearances he’s managed in all competitions so far this season is more than he made last season.
James has been deployed in midfield in recent weeks, something Maresca has admitted is to help him stay fit, although it’s clear he’s best at right back.
Despite his lack of managerial experience, Maresca has clearly impressed the players and James revealed what’s surprised him most about the former Leicester boss.
“He’s been amazing since he arrived,” James told Chelsea’s website.
“I wasn’t sure what to expect when he came, but he’s surprised me a lot with how advanced his football knowledge is and his understanding and the way he sets up and wants us to play.”
