Super 25 rankings update: Roosevelt leaps into top 2 with California state championship

The top of the USA TODAY Sports Super 25 rankings shifted slightly, as Roosevelt eclipsed Hoover at the No. 2 spot. The Mustangs, who won the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section championship at the beginning of the month, completed its dynamic postseason run with a state title in the Open Division to confirm itself as the top team in California. With that, Roosevelt remains behind only Columbus, with The Throne and Chipotle national tournaments left on their respective schedules.

Near the bottom of the national rankings, Archbishop Stepinac (White Plains, N.Y.) entered the Super 25 as winners of 20 of the last 21 games, with a game this coming weekend against 31-1 Thomas Jefferson Campus. Highland fell to No. 25 after picking up its seventh loss, but with 42 wins (a winning percentage in line with teams with fewer losses in fewer games), the Hawks squad can reassert themselves as a top-20 team while competing in The Throne.
