NEW YORK — The Phoenix Suns conclude their three-game road trip Sunday against the New York Knicks before a pivotal three-game homestand.
The Suns lost, 138-122, to the Knicks back in November in Phoenix. Devin Booker scored 33 points in the loss, while Jalen Brunson went for 36 points to lead New York.
Phoenix has been without Kevin Durant during this road trip after he suffered a left ankle sprain in the third quarter of last week’s 39-point home loss to the Houston Rockets.
The Suns are hopeful Durant returns before the end of the regular season.
The Suns are battling for a play-in spot in the Westen Conference as they’re in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
Phoenix will return home to face Golden State on Tuesday, Oklahoma City on Wednesday in the second of a back-to-back and San Antonio on Friday before ending the 2024-25 regular season April 13 at Sacramento in what would be a deciding game for entry into the play-in.
The Suns are 2-1 against the Warriors, 0-2 versus the NBA-best Thunder and 1-1 against the Spurs. Golden State acquired Jimmy Butler from Miami in a deal right before the trade deadline. The Suns also had pursued Butler.
