Stoppage in Purdue basketball game for McNeese State player's March Madness wardrobe malfunction
McNeese State may as well have used the free timeout it got for the stoppage before the Under-16 commercial breaks. Starting forward Christian Shumate had a wardrobe malfunction that needed attention early against Purdue basketball.
The Boilermakers jumped out to a 10-6 lead in the second round of March Madness and, with 17 minutes, 9 seconds left, a stoppage forced Shumate to swap jerseys. The CBS cameras showed the front of the jersey was ripped from the bottom nearly to the collar.
Shumate, a high-flying scorer and key to the Cowboys' athletic defense, shed his typical No. 24 jersey. Cameras showed staff personnel racing to the locker room to grab a fresh jersey. Shumate is now wearing No. 22.
Schumate, a senior from Chicago, averages 10.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for the 12th-seeded Cowboys, who beat fifth-seeded Clemson in the first round.
