It’s a bird, it’s a malfunctioning plane door—no, it’s Terry Bradshaw!
The legendary four-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame Steelers QB of the mid-70s and early ’80s recently made headlines for his heroic actions aboard a plane that experienced a door malfunction at Pittsburgh International Airport.
According to KDKA reporter Ricky Sayer of CBS Pittsburgh, Bradshaw was sitting in the front row of the plane that had just landed from Dallas-Fort Worth when the door to exit was stuck shut for around half an hour—until the Pittsburgh icon helped force it open.
The pilot even jokingly referenced Bradshaw's feat during an overhead intercom announcement, stating that thanks to the strength of one of the passengers, everything was okay—and according to Sayer, everyone knew who to thank.
Sayer also noted that Bradshaw was in town for Mel Blount's celebrity roast on Friday—which also marks the 50-year anniversary of the Steelers’ first Super Bowl appearance, made possible by Bradshaw’s incredible play.
