Liverpool showman keeps Barcelona dream alive; ready to wait for the club
Liverpool forward Luis Diaz remains hopeful of securing a move to Barcelona, as per a report from Roger Torello in Mundo Deportivo.
The Colombian winger, who has been with the Reds for four seasons and still has two years left on his contract, is prepared to wait for the Catalan giants to make their move this summer.
A lifelong admirer of the club, Diaz would not hesitate to make the switch if Barcelona showed serious interest in bringing him to Spain.
His name has been under consideration by the club’s sporting director as a potential reinforcement for the attacking department next season.
It must be noted that Barcelona had already monitored him in the previous transfer window, and he is now expected to be back on their radar once the current campaign concludes.
However, any move for the Colombian will depend on whether the club can create financial flexibility within LaLiga’s fair play regulations.
Barcelona’s interest faces a Liverpool roadblock
Diaz is keen to see whether Barcelona will make a concrete approach, but he remains cautious about raising his expectations without a clear signal from the club.
While he is willing to wait for his dream transfer, he understands that the decision ultimately rests with the Catalan side.
Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Arne Slot considers Diaz an essential part of his squad and is determined to retain him.
The Dutch coach has already informed the club’s management that he wants the winger to stay, making a departure more complicated.
However, Liverpool are also in the market for reinforcements, particularly targeting Alexander Isak as a potential signing.
Given Newcastle’s reluctance to sell, the Reds may need to offload a key player to fund the move, and Diaz could be the one sacrificed to facilitate their plans.
For now, the Colombian forward remains patient, waiting to see if Barcelona will take the necessary steps to make his long-cherished dream a reality.
