Spartanburgers' baseball park opens tonight with Wofford vs. USC Upstate, 'historic moment'

Spartanburg’s new downtown baseball stadium – Fifth Third Park – will host its inaugural game tonight as the USC Upstate Spartans and Wofford Terriers meet for a cross-town rivalry contest.

"We're thrilled to host Wofford and USC Upstate for the first baseball event at Fifth Third Park," said Tyson Jeffers, general manager of the Hub City Spartanburgers, in a news release.

The stadium will be operating at limited capacity, and all available tickets have been sold, according to Ian Unsworth, Broadcast and Media Relations Manager for the Hub City Spartanburgers.

"This game will be a historic moment as we introduce Fifth Third Park to the community while offering fans an exciting opportunity to watch two of the region's premier collegiate programs," Jeffers said. "We can't wait to make this a night to remember for the schools, their athletes, and all the fans who join us."

The Spartanburgers' first home game is two weeks away – April 15.

Fifth Third Park is a stadium being built in Spartanburg. It will be the home for the Hub City Spartanburgers baseball team. On Mar. 25, 2025 a 'Spartanburgers Media Madness' tour of the ballpark was held for local media. This is the new ballpark near completion.

For tonight’s game, city and team officials encourage fans to use parking garages and surface lots along Broad and Magnolia streets as well as Daniel Morgan Avenue.

The newly constructed parking garage beside Fifth Third Park is not yet available, but it is expected to be in time for the Spartanburgers’ home opener. To view a map showing parking locations, click here.
