Seahawks re-sign Cody White
The Seattle Seahawks are rebuilding their wide receiver corps after moving on from Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf this offseason. One such move they did to keep what remains in tact was re-signing wide receiver Cody White. On Friday, it was announced by the team the exclusive rights free agent will be remaining in the Emerald City.
According to the NFL, an exclusive rights free agent is:
Any player with fewer than three accrued seasons and an expired contract. If his original team offers him a one-year contract at the league minimum (based on his credited seasons), the player cannot negotiate with other teams.
Originally an undrafted free agent in 2020, Cody White began his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, but did not make it out of training camp. White then bounced around between the Denver Broncos and New York Giants before lading a semi-permanent home with the Pittsburgh Steelers, bouncing between the practice squad and the active roster. White eventually made his way to the Pacific Northwest in 2023 where he was mainly a practice squad member, but in a Week 9 loss to the Rams, he emerged as a surprise stud.
White hauled in two receptions for 44 yards and blocked a punt in an eventual 26-20 overtime defeat.
