SC Freiburg preparing for the potential departure of Kiliann Sildillia
kicker reports that SC Freiburg are preparing for the potential departure of right-back Kiliann Sildillia, as the Frenchman mulls over his future.
Sildillia has been close to leaving Freiburg both in the winter and last summer but moves have never materialised. With his contract expiring in 2026, this would be the last time the Black Forest side could sell the 22-year-old for a decent fee. On top of this, the Olympic Silver medalist has the under-21 European championships this summer.
If the 22-year-old does leave, then Freiburg’s academy product Bruno Ogbus will be given the chance at right-back, while the club will also look at bringing in another younger option to compete with Lukas Kübler.
Schalke’s Taylan Bulut and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Elias Baum are both candidates and are said to fit the profile Freiburg are looking for. Bulut is likely to leave Schalke in the summer and has a release clause worth €6-8m. While Baum will return to Frankfurt after the end of his loan spell at Elversburg in the summer, but if there are no prospects of first-team football, he could look to leave.
