S Tre'von Moehrig wants to bring 'dog mentality' to Panthers defense
Well, now we know why Carolina Panthers president of football operations/general manager Dan Morgan probably liked safety Tre'von Moehrig so much.
Moehrig, who landed a three-year, $51 million deal from Carolina last week, recently chatted with Kassidy Hill of Panthers.com. And as he begins his transition out east, the former Las Vegas Raider is prepared to bring a pretty coveted attribute along with him.
"I really think I can just provide, just like a dog mentality, a dominant mentality, every time I'm on the field," Moehrig said. "Just being able to line up in different spots on the field and make the offense have to think about what I'm doing and what I can present, so I think that's what I'll be able to bring to the table.
"That's kind of what (the Panthers) were mentioning, just kind of being the Swiss Army, being able to move around different spots and, like I said, just give different looks."
The 25-year-old moved around more than he ever had as a pro in 2024—with career-highs in snaps from the defensive line (80), the box (439) and the slot (191). That versatility gave way to a career year for Moehrig, who recorded bests in tackles (104), tackles for a loss (five), stops (29), pressures (12) and passes defensed (10).
So congratulations, Dan—because it seems as though you got yourself a dog.
