Resuming training after int’l break: Amorim receives significant injury boost at the perfect time for United
Manchester United are poised to welcome Ayden Heaven back to training when club action resumes following the international break, as per the Manchester Evening News.
It comes as a substantial boost for Ruben Amorim and the fans, who can now breathe a sigh of relief after initially fearing the worst over their January signing’s condition.
He was stretchered off shortly after the interval during the Reds’ comfortable win over Leicester City last week. Prior to his forced substitution, he had enjoyed a stellar 51 minutes of action, recording three clearances, two blocks and two successful take-ons in the first half alone.
Additionally, Heaven won 83 per cent of his attempted ground duels and was not dribbled past once throughout his time on the King Power turf.
Heaven has taken to first-team action like a duck to water
It marked just the fourth game of Heaven’s United career along with his second successive start, having quickly made a lasting impression in his first outings. Formerly of Arsenal’s academy, the 18-year-old made just one Carabao Cup appearance for the Gunners first-team before switching allegiances to the 20-time champions and moving up North.
Shortly after his move had been finalised and the dust had settled, it was claimed Barcelona had been targeting the defender but failed to convince him of a transfer due to United making a more lucrative proposal. Then, injuries to Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans paved the way for him to be promoted to Amorim’s side.
Nonetheless, Heaven can now work on his fitness over the next fortnight and hopefully feature in some form when the Reds return to Premier League action on April 1 away to Nottingham Forest.
