Reds OF prospect Carlos Jorge carted off field after crashing into wall on catch in Dayton

Cincinnati Reds prospect Carlos Jorge was playing center field during the High-A Dayton Dragons' series finale Sunday against the Fort Wayne TinCaps when he crashed into the wall while making a remarkable, over-the-shoulder catch in the top of the 6th inning to rob Addison Kopack of extra bases.

The 21-year-old Jorge turned, threw the ball in and collapsed to the ground. He was carted off the field with an undisclosed injury.

Jorge ranks No. 21 among MLB Pipeline's top Reds prospects.

Jorge was promoted from Low-A Daytona to Dayton in 2023. He batted .220 with 12 homers and 28 stolen bases last season for the Dragons.

Jorge entered Sunday with two hits in 25 plate appearances this season.

The Reds signed Jorge out of the Dominican Republic for $495,000, at the start of the delayed 2020-21 international signing period in January 2021.

After posting an 1.015 OPS and stealing 27 bases in the Dominican Summer League at age 17, Jorge hit .261 with a .935 OPS and a league-leading 27 SBs (in 31 attempts) for the Reds' Arizona Complex League team.

Defensively, Jorge played second base for most of his season with Daytona.
