Recap of the Ravens major offseason losses after first week of NFL free agency
The Baltimore Ravens weren't overly active during the first few days of NFL free agency, but the team added DeAndre Hopkins to the passing game and Jake Hummel to the special teams. The Ravens retained Ronnie Stanley, Patrick Ricard, and Tylan Wallace, while the restructure of Marlon Humphrey created $13 million in salary cap space.
Even with the inactivity and loss of five key contributors or starters, the team is still in the midst of a Super Bowl window and has 11 2025 NFL draft picks to help restock.
With the second wave of free agency set to begin, we're recapping the biggest losses through wave one.
Chris Board
Board signed a two-year deal with the New York Giants.
Board, who was voted the special teams captain last year, played a team-leading 386 special teams snaps last year (Harrison was second with 336). He also contributed as an inside linebacker, taking key snaps away from Trenton Simpson.
Malik Harrison
Harrison signed a two-year deal with the rival Pittsburgh Steelers.
OL Josh Jones
Jones signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks.
Patrick Mekari
Mekari signed a three-year, 37.5M deal with Jaguars
Mekari logged snaps at every position during his Ravens career, filling in wherever Baltimore needed him. In 2024, that meant playing nearly every down at left guard for a revamped offensive line that markedly improved after a rocky start. Mekari's versatility, with more than 500 snaps at both tackle spots before 2024, drove his value significantly in free agency.
Brandon Stephens
Stephens agreed to a 3-year, $36M deal with the Jets.
The 28-year-old cornerback was an early-season candidate for a contract extension, but he's struggled in coverage this season and was a liability down the stretch. According to PFF, Stephens' 50.7 coverage grade is 175th out of 223 cornerbacks in the NFL this season.
His 107.4 passer rating was 57th in the NFL.
