Real Madrid starlet reacts to maiden national team call-up – ‘Going to enjoy it’
Raul Asencio has steadily established himself as a reliable presence in Real Madrid’s defence, making a strong impression with his performances in both La Liga and the Champions League.
His consistent displays have caught the attention of Spain’s national team manager, Luis de la Fuente, earning him a well-deserved call-up to the senior squad.
This selection comes at a crucial time as Spain prepares for their Nations League campaign, with a challenging quarter-final fixture against the Netherlands on the horizon.
Asencio’s rise through the ranks at Real Madrid has been impressive, and his development has not gone unnoticed.
Speaking about the maiden call-up
The young defender has been experiencing a remarkable period in his career.
His time with the first team has allowed him to train alongside some of the best players in the world, benefiting from the guidance of experienced teammates and coaching staff.
He has embraced every opportunity, showing a strong desire to grow and improve in every aspect of his game.
“It’s incredible. Living day to day with all my teammates, the coaching staff, and the staff are experiences I enjoy to the fullest. I try to learn every day, and I hope it never ends,” he told Real Madrid TV.
Wearing the Real Madrid shirt has been a defining moment in his journey, and now, representing Spain at the senior level adds another milestone.
He recognises that his success at the club has paved the way for this international call-up, and he is eager to make the most of the experience.
“I’m incredibly excited; it’s the dream of any kid who plays football. The most beautiful and special thing is being able to represent your country.
“Thanks to everything I’ve achieved during this time with Real Madrid, I’ve been given this opportunity, so I’m going to enjoy it, learn, and live the experience,” he added.
Asencio remains focused on continuing his development, learning from the high-level environment he is part of, and making valuable contributions both for club and country.
His progress in recent months highlights his potential to become a key figure in Spanish football.
