Rams HC Sean McVay involved in 'animated' conversation about Tush Push ban

Sean McVay appears to have some fiery thoughts about the "Tush Push."

The Los Angeles Rams head coach reportedly had "a private and animated side conversation" with Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman and assistant general manager Jon Ferrari, according to ESPN's Kalyn Kahler, about a proposal to ban the "Tush Push" on Sunday during the annual owner's meeting. Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott was also apart of the conversation. McVay and McDermott after two members of the NFL's competition committee, which looks at all rule changes and takes in feedback.

The Green Bay Packers proposed to ban the play, and the rule change would "prohibit an offensive player from pushing a teammate who was lined up directly behind the snapper and receives the snap, immediately at the snap." This has been an element of why the Eagles (and a few other teams) have been so successful at it over the past few years.

It's unclear as to which side McVay was on in the conversation, but Kahler reported that the rule change to ban the "Tush Push" has support within the competition committee. Roseman and Ferrari would, obviously, be against any proposal to stop their players from using a successful play.

McVay has commented on the "Tush Push" as recently as this past November. He said that there are "a lot of challenges" with stopping the play, from "the momentum, the techniques, the fundamentals. ... There’s an understanding of leverage angles, get-off, a rapport that's been established, and they've been doing it for a long time."

For any rule change to be adopted, 75% of the owners would need to vote in favor.
