Just yesterday, we put out our position assessment for the cornerback spot. One of the questions facing the group was whether or not Jack Jones would be in the plans due to his ties with former head coach Antonio Pierce who coached him at all three levels from high school to the pros.
Well, not a day later, those concerns became real as the team is reportedly looking to trade Jones and if they can't find a trade partner, they will release him.

But if they can't work out a trade, Jones will be released on Monday.
Jones has no guaranteed money on his current contract, which means his release or trade would free up all $3.4 million on his deal for this season.
The team signed Eric Stokes this offseason and GM John Spytek has spoke glowingly about him. Stokes plays exclusively on the outside, which would put him in line for Jones's job with Jakorian Bennett starting on the other side.
Parting ways with Jones doesn't change the need at the position except, perhaps, thinning out the depth. There was already, and will still be, a glaring need at nickel due to the loss of Nate Hobbs in free agency.
With Stokes signing a one-year deal, it does slightly open the possibility the Raiders could consider cornerback with their top pick, whether that's at six overall or lower, should they find a partner to trade down.
