After moving on from Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, the Pittsburgh Steelers are in the market for a new quarterback. While they have been tied to veteran QBs in free agency, such as Aaron Rodgers, they could also turn to the draft. One player they have shown interest in is former聽Longhorn聽Quinn Ewers.
The Steelers met with Ewers before his Pro Day at Texas.聽It was their second private meeting with Ewers, the first time being at the NFL Combine. The Texas native has reportedly been very impressive during his meetings and is considered a sleeper for those looking for a quarterback.
During the 2024 campaign, Ewers appeared in 14 games for the Longhorns, throwing for 3,472 yards. He also added 31 passing touchdowns to his resume while averaging 248 yards a game. Ewers did battle injuries, but when healthy, he was one of the best QB's in the SEC.

While Ewers is not receiving the same attention as Dart or Milroe, he has the potential to be a solid player in the NFL. He led the Longhorns to the playoffs multiple times and finished two wins short of a national title last year. If he can continue building on his skills, he could be a good player for a team such as the Steelers.聽
Although the Steelers have made their interest clear, they are not the only team. Over the last few days, Ewers has also been tied to the Saints, Raiders, and Jets. That list will likely grow over the next few weeks as teams finalize their draft boards.聽
Regardless of where Ewers ends up, he brings an impressive resume to the table. That includes 9.128 career passing yards in college and multiple accolades. That should draw the interest of various teams, such as the Steelers, on the second or third day of the draft.
